What would you call the "Crime of the Century" for the 20th century?
I just heard someone on TV refer to Martin Luther King’s assassination as the “crime of the century.” I immediately thought of JFK….and DB Cooper.
What was the crime of the century in your opinion?

Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombing even though it was a compulsion at that time will stand after that.
Enron, the S & L debacle. White collar crime remains the way to go. You rob a bank for a few hundred dollars and you’re guaranteed 20 years in a grey rock Federal prison. But you can rip the public off for billions and walk away a rich man. It is only the fluke of the Mueller investigation that allowed Cohen & Manafort to be discovered and prosecuted. You have to wonder just how prevalent such behavior is out there.
The Lindbergh baby kidnapping.
My sister says it was the Watergate scandal.
I say the Kennedy assassination.
We were really quite naughty, weren’t we?
There is quite a lot to choose from.
When I hear crime of the century, I have in mind more than just the severity of the crime, or the impact. It includes for me the elusiveness of the criminal(s).
Serial killers who go years undetected come to play there.
Unibomber takes a spot somewhere near the top of the list.
I have to think it over a while longer to see if I can point to just one.
Adding pineapple to pizza.
The JFK assassination.
The Lindbergh kidnapping.
Ethel and Julius Rosenberg.
O.J. Simpson’s murders.
They were all media circuses.
That time my grandma’s cousin’s best friend’s hairdresser’s doctor fondled iddy biddy titty in his surgery…shocking!
Definitely Hitlers Nazi Holocaust. This has to be the single most horrific crime against humanity ever devised by the worst monster ever! We shall NEVER forget this!
