Rudyard Kipling had some good ones. How the leopard got his spots, how the elephant got his trunk (down by the banks of the great gray greeasy Limpopo RIVA, all set about with fever trees)...pretty sure they were just made up though.
Oh wait. The Limpopo river is in South Africa. Sry.
There is an episode of “Survivor Man,” where he is trekking through a jungle area. A tiger had killed dozens of people, over a period of time, and was still not captured/killed.
It’s pretty wild, because no single animal would ever pile up that body count, on my continent. We have Kodiak, Grizzly, Brown, Black, and Polar Bears. But I’ve never heard of them terrorizing communities in such ways….
I think cats are smarter than bears.
I would agree. I think a grizzly would fuck a tiger up bad though. A polar bear would destroy a tiger.
Probably a Kodiak too….
There are some big weight differences. Never underestimate a grizzly that wades through chest deep rapids for salmon, and fights other bears all day, every day.
From what I have read, tigers only hunt humans, when they are injured, or sick. We are boney, and don’t offer much food, or fat. But they get an understanding of how to get is (low hanging fruit) easier than many animals they prey on naturally…
Yeah, if they got into a one on one my money would be on the bear! But bears don’t go around planning to kill hikers and stuff.
I think they’re different types of hunters. One on one, yeah, my money is on a large bear.
They are different. Cats stalk and plan. Bears just see something and tear it to shreds.
I think that’s about right.
