Any suggestions of where to stay in the West End in London?

Asked by Caravanfan (13876points) September 2nd, 2018

Hi all,

I’m flying to England in November to see several shows of Caravan’s 50th Anniversary Tour (I am a Caravan fan, you see), and I’m hoping to get lodging in Soho or Covent Garden. I do understand that places are more expensive there than other places so I’m looking for suggestions for somewhere that anybody might have experience with that are comfortable and won’t keep my daughter from attending University. No need to Google around for me—I’ve done it already.

UCME may have an extra chamber in his castle.

1) I don’t identify with that name for as any fool could see, it’s all lower case
2) Castles are so crass & passe
3) We don’t currently own a residence in London
4) We’re away in November for the annual peasant shoot, survivors are hired…the lucky buggers.

It’s worth checking the AirB&B website.

Last time i was in London, I rented a room through AirBnB for $92 a night. It was in Hammersmith on the tube line from Heathrow and about 20 minutes from the West End on the tube. I had to enter through the main entry of the house but the room and private bathroom were very private and spacious.

There is also a chain called Travelodge that is very basic but very reasonably priced. we stayed in one in Windsor when we went to a wedding and there are several in London.

We also stayed once in a hotel near Piccadilly Circus called Jury’s Hotel that was very nice and reasonably priced but not as cheap as Travelodge.

Another vote for AirBnB. I like living in an apartment much better than a hotel room. I haven’t been to London, but I’ve been to other cities where I love pretending to be a local in my AirBbB.

Thanks. The AirBnB’s I looked at are booked. That’s why I’m asking about hotels.
