Why does a mostly bald person pay as much for a haircut as a well coiffed person?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33550points) September 2nd, 2018

I’m 75–80% bald on the top, and just a little bit on the sides (for now).

Yet a real barber (or for that matter, a place like Supercuts or something similar) charges me the same as if I had a full head of hair that needs to be trimmed.

Why? Is there no justice in the world?

They have fixed costs like rent, salaries, and the electric bill. Everyone in the chair is splitting those costs.

A barber broke the news to me. “Why are you paying for this? You don’t have enough hair.” Sad day. I loved the pampering.

After that I bought some Wahl electric clippers. I cut my hair with the #1 (very short) comb. It takes about two minutes. I love the small effort and low cost. And the near- skin head is great in hot weather – dousing my skull with cold water feels so good.

Because it is harder to make a balding man’s haircut look as good.
