Trump has said, regarding free trade Canada has taken advantage of the states for years and that is going to end, could anyone in simple terms tell me what he means by that?

Could anyone from either side tell me how Canada has taken advantage of the States?
Can you point to any such cases?
Hell Trump didn’t even want Canada at the table for the NAFTA talks, who is taking advantage of who in this wonderful world of Trump?

Petroleum, wheat (grain) and automobiles (made by USA companies) are the three that come to mind.

But how is that taking advantage of the states by Canada?

First off, he’s wrong.
Let’s dumb it down. You are having a garage sale. So is your neighbor.
You went over to his sale and spent $20 on junk he sold. He, then, came over to your house and spent $10 for your useless crap.
You gave him $10 more than he gave you.

Maybe he is hinting at the dispute process that keeps favoring Canadian softwood lumber exports. Or the 275% tariff for milk trade over $600 million on the 30 – 50 million over $600 million dollars.

Maybe the states should be aware that for decades B.C Hydro has been selling electricity to the US cheaper than they can make it for,but don’t worry they really sock it to their Canadian customers to make up the difference, guess we are subsidizing electricity for the US.

The milk thing is to prevent US subsidized dairy farmers from dumping their milk up here, guess it’s our way of protecting Canadian dairy farmers.who in no way can compete with the US dairy farmer.

I still haven’t seen where Canada is taking advantage of the US, but I am waiting.

I see it as posturing with what he considers to be a SAFE neighbor!!! He talks just to impress himself. Much like a business selling a bad product, I just DON’T buy it!!!

Just guessing…your Prime Minister didn’t kiss his butt properly; so in his mind, he’s making Trudeau look bad. Trump’s opinion doesn’t affect my opinion & I’m doing my best to STOP hearing anything that petty little man says!!!

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Thanks @LadyMarissa .
But Trumps base sure is in love with him, they can’t eat enough of his bullshit sandwiches.

Kardamom's avatar

Maybe Trump should slap a big fat tariff on his bullshit sandwiches, then his stupid base won’t want to buy them anymore.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Without sounding to gross @Kardamom his base is so blind to his shit,it would take something truly horrific to get them to open their eyes, like him raping a child in public, and even that a great many of them would cry fake news.

Kardamom's avatar

Apparently he already raped his first wife Ivana, or so she claimed. She had to sign one of those non disclosure agreements during her divorce, and so did his second wife, whose name I can’t seem to recall at this moment. Of course his base would say anything he did wrong was fake news, unless he actually shot one of them, but then only that one dude would be upset, and the rest of those shit eaters would call that one dude a leftist Hillary lovin’ kale eatin’ hippie.

Dumb people love big fat liars like Trump, because it means they don’t have to think for themselves, or do any kind of research. They just go along with that orange apparition so they can continue to sit on their butts and lick Cheeto dust off their fingers while they eat pork rinds and watch re-runs of Duck Dynasty, and not know things. It’s their God given right to not know things!!!

Second wife was Marla Maples ,if I spelled that right.

ScienceChick's avatar

@Tropical_Willie What do you mean by petroleum and wheat? You mean Canada imports cheap wheat like cars from the US? Or did you mean that Canada sells loads of wheat to the US? Because Canada sells more wheat to the US than it buys.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

@ScienceChick Canada exports to the USA oil, wheat and cars.

LadyMarissa's avatar

@Kardamom Trump’s mistress was Marla Maples & when she came up pregnant he tried to pressure her into having an abortion. Once she refused & it became public knowledge, he dumped his wife & kids to marry her. Then he dumped her & their kid in order to marry Melania. that’s why he paraded Tiffany out on stage during the election…he wanted to stay one step ahead of the press. It’s also why he treats Tiffany like crap!!! I’m of the opinion that you don’t need NDA’s signed by everybody when you’re living a stellar life!!!

When it comes to matters of trade, I think we are fortunate that the leadership of the rest of the world’s nations are not as obtuse as the fool. Can you imagine a roomful of stumblebum Trumps negotiating sensible trade agreements? We are also lucky that the rest of the world sees the fool for what he is and resists the urge to gang up on him (so far).

Hopefully the rest of the diplomats can keep their composure while dealing with the spoiled rotten rich kid in the room.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

@Tropical_Willie How is exporting those three things taking advantage of the states?

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Trump wants to control/own the resources of the NAFTA and therefore receive the monies and profits.
He think he owns any resources the USA uses.

Didn’t say he was smart, just greedy. He doesn’t want to owe anybody, that is reason he would renege on contracts with his contractors are the construction of his resorts and buildings, claiming poor workmanship.

ScienceChick's avatar

@Tropical_Willie it sounds like a ‘work place accident’ is in order.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Or release of pictures from the Kremlin. ;>)

SQUEEKY2's avatar

That would be great as long as they are dry and don’t smell to badly.^^^

LadyMarissa's avatar

^^^ I believe those pics will be wet & sticky & possibly smell like months old fish!!! LoL

Canada is one of our, possibly best, allies. Trump hates allies. He seems to forget that it was Canada who played the largest role in getting our hostages released from Iran in the 80s, at a very real and serious risk to their own citizens. How soon we forget.
