How much money is enough for you personally?
Is it a specific amount? Or is it all of it? Mine is $500 million Canadian. All else is gravy. I could settle for having enough food so that I could be full.

I’d be good with $500 million Canadian. That seems like a good round number.
Enough for food ,clothing, and shelter, 8 months Emergency Fund ( or actually 1 yr is better),
money set aside for my Funeral arrangements, life insurance ,Tenant Insurance.
Just to have a healthy happy retirement without worrying about anything financial.
$15 million after taxes. Anything beyond that isn’t gravy, it’s a headache.
Enough to last me until I die? I want $5 million to feel safe.
Enough to live comfortably for a year? $50k for my husband and me assuming we aren’t vacationing or doing any hobbies.
Enough is enough for food, housing and utilities. Healthcare is free over here and those over 60 get a free bus pass. What more do you really need?
I agree with @kritiper. No amount is too much.
However, that’s what would happen in an ideal world. There is much more to life than getting as much money as possible. If a million dollars come with the cost of your health, happiness, sanity, or even morality, then what’s the point?
So long as I can keep on wiping my arse with nothing short of a £20 note then i’m as content as a contented thing in content town.
Wow, people sure seem to feel they need a lot. I would be very happy to have 3 – 5 million in assets. It would allow me to feel secure without feeling guilty that I was in the stratosphere.
@janbb, I know, right? I have a bunch less than you mention, and I am not only quite comfortable, but I have enough to generously donate and do some goofing around. And I live in CT, so it’s not because I live in a low cost-of-living place!
I don’t “need” much!!! My house is paid for; so I just need enough to cover utilities, food, & expenses for my car. I live modestly; so barring any unforeseen illness, I don’t “need” much!!!
Enough for food, clothing, shelter, utilities, medical insurance, auto insurance.
Though in terms of actual numbers…I’m not entirely sure what that would look like in 30 or 40 years with inflation?
I need/want enough to maintain my current standard of living and not have to work a “job.”
