Why do carbonated beverage companies fill their containers so high?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24986points) September 17th, 2018

So that the fizz doesn’t spill out when shaken in the slightest? Why don’t they just lower to a small amount? Most don’t go right to the top, but more room is required to avoid spraying pop all over the kitchen floor.

To entice the masses to buy their product. I’ve seen mothers telling their kids to get the one with the most in the bottle so they’ll have more to drink when they get home & it will be less than a ounce & she has 6 kids.

I don’t have a problem with pop spraying over my floor so maybe you just need to STOP shaking it before you open it!!! LOL

If it has a twist lid, just slowly start to open it, and if it starts to fizz up too much, tighten the lid before it leaks, and then slowly let it release just a bit of air, being ready to tighten it again before it leaks, until it’s ok.

If it has a pull tab, open it someplace safe to spray with fluids…

Sit it jn your sink so any spillage goes down the drain instead of onto the floor!!!

Saving storage space in the warehouse and minimizing overhead costs for materials.

They fill the containers to maintain the “fizz”. It also makes for a more stable “package” if the liquid is prevented from sloshing around.
