Great question.

I haven’t been paying attention for a long while now. The last information I overheard from a TV news discussion was something along the lines of the US needing to have some sort of presence there in perpetuity otherwise whatever foothold gained there is lost. All that blood and treasure lost for nothing.

Kind of like how the world ended when we were kicked out of Vietnam?

My personal opinion is that if we get our noses out of their business they will find a way to make it work for them and their unique society.

I am sorry all those soldiers died, just as I am sorry that all those civilians died. It was a senseless war and staying will not bring them back. Want someone to blame, look to the top one percent in the US. They and their businesses are the only ones who got anything out of it.

^^They will never find a way to make it work for them. They would have terrorist cells again training, plotting and attacking the US.

Americans need not just smart but very smart leaders who can think outside the box and come up with plans that will not cost us blood and that much treasure.

Impossible? I don’t think so. There are so many brainy people in the country. The problem is they don’t go into politics and sometimes they don’t get elected.
