Is criminal minds still good after Mandy Patinkin leaves?

I recently started watching Criminal Minds. I’m about halfway through s1, and I just found out that Mandy Patinkin left the show after s2. Gideon is such a big character, it’s really hard to imagine what the show will be like with him gone. For those that have watched s3 and beyond, how does the show feel? Is there a noticible drop in quality? Or is whoever replaces him actually able to fill his shoes? I’m still gonna keep watching it, but I’d just like to see what everyone’s opinion was.

I’ve seen a dozen episodes and honestly I think it’s laughably cheesy with poor filmmaking. But Patinkin was definitely the best part of the show
I’ve watched almost all of the first 10 seasons & only stopped because I was caught up to the place new episodes weren’t available to binge watch. Then Netflix fell behind on releasing them & I got sidetracked. When Mandy left the show I thought much like you & couldn’t imagine it continuing on its own 2 feet. Then like a LOT of other things in life, the earth kept on turning & life didn’t stop & everything was good!!! I was more than pleased with the direction the show took after we lost Gideon. Actually, I do believe that it got BETTER!!! There were a few seasons that got a bit boring but it was way up & I don’t remember exactly which ones. The one thing I discovered about that show was that even the boring episodes kept building on the other characters & became IMPORTANT later on making skipping around not wise!!!
Keep on watching…I doubt that you’ll be sorry!!!
After what Mandy Patinkin did to Chicago Hope, and started to do with Criminal Minds, be thankful he was gone after two seasons. His leaving is part of why it has lasted so long.
It has good seasons and bad ones. The whole show is cheesy and formulaic, but it has managed to keep my attention until now—which makes it pretty decent in my opinion. There are definitely some memorable episodes that I enjoyed that have come out since Mandy Patinkin left.
Criminal Minds is my “no new episodes of my favorite shows right now and I just want to chill out and watch something” show.
If you like Criminal Minds, you might enjoy Numb3rs. It’s another formula crime drama with the angle of a mathematician solving crimes instead of profilers.
