Where would you be buried?

Asked by kritiper (25757points) October 9th, 2018

Your first mate died at an early age and is buried in the local cemetery. You stayed in the same small town and remarried. You outlived your second mate, and he/she is buried in the same cemetery near your first mate. So, when your time comes, will you be buried next to your first mate, your second mate, (somewhere?) in between, or just somewhere else entirely?

I do not care.
Some one else would decide that after my apparent death.

Interesting dilemma. are kids involved?

My wishes are not to be buried , just put me in a large jar and keep me in the closet.
And bring me out on the holidays.

I would never choose traditional burial. I would prefer that my cremated remains be turned into a tree or become part of an ocean reef.

If I stayed in the same town, probably by the one who I spent most time with. If I moved, then wherever I moved to.

Personally, I have chosen cremation and my kids have been informed that I wish to be put in a nice container with my pertinent information clearly displayed and kept on the mantle to be handed down from generation to generation until I can be buried on a distant planet. Or until we all become radioactive dust, whichever comes first.

My wife and I did buy a couple of plots in a small cemetery that is on her old family homestead. The family donated the land for it about 120 years ago. The associated church is long gone but the cemetery is still in use. As I said, I plan to be cremated but I will put up a stone with my name, birth and death date and the notation “He Ain’t Here” on it. Pretty sure my wife will have to go first for me to get away with it. I have already been informed that it isn’t going to happen.

I’d have them cut my corpse in half and bury half of me with each former wife.

rojo's avatar

@gorillapaws may I suggest you do it lengthwise and not across so there is no argument about who gets the better half.

@Kardamom Same! I love the tree urn! I think it’s available in Kansas but not my state, I’ll check again.

Cremated and Shards/Ashes buried wherever survivors wish , otherwise throw it into the wind and let it sail on its own.
I have organ donation on my drivers license in cse they could save someones life, then whats left is cremated.

chyna's avatar

@rojo Which is the better half? :-)

@Inspired_2write My former mother-in-law passed in August at age 85 as an organ donor. Despite having been in poor health, it turns out her skin was harvested for burn victims.

I wish for my creamins to be spread in the Emigrant Basin Wild area just north of Yosemte National Park.

@chyna I wouldn’t touch that 10’ pole…......

rojo's avatar

I mean, WITH a 10’ pole! WITH a 10’ pole!

kritiper's avatar

@chyna In this particular instance, yes, there are grown children of the first mate.

(BTW, first mate was killed by accident, did not die a natural death.)

Patty_Melt's avatar

Maybe there will be a third spouse.

chyna's avatar

I’m thinking by the second mate even though there were kids from the first mate. Only because they were married longer to the second person.

With the mother/father of my children.

Wherever my children prefer, if I have children. Are you sure there is space available next to both spouses?

I think if I buried my husband, I would buy the plot next to him?

MrGrimm888's avatar

I would prefer to crawl into a remote cave. Die, and never be found.

Autopsies, are like my biggest fear.

rojo's avatar

^^^particularly premature autopsies.
