The V-1 flying bomb. Destroyed itself on impact.

I can’t vouch for the authenticity of this. It’s simply something that showed up when I googled “scuttling charges”. Scuttling is deliberately sinking a ship.

CV-6 USS Enterprise was an early US Navy carrier (the sixth, thus “CV-6”) that famously served through World War II.

Instructions for Scuttling Ship

The equipment includes “One 2000 lb. centrally located bomb”.

Ships may have scuttling valves. The Germans scuttled their fleet at Scapa Flow, Scotland, after surrendering to the British after WWI. (June 21,1919)

There are devices, such as thermite grenades that can be used to destroy equipment, such as tanks, trucks, small mobile guns, even aircraft.

A good hammer, sufficiently employed, can destroy a lot of equipment!

If the answer were yes, do you think that the armies of the world would make that public?

@elbanditoroso Maybe with the obsolete craft.

As for scuttling charges, the sub I served on had them. They were a last defense against having the sub taken by foreign countries.
