What sculpture would you display permanently in front of your house?

Even if you’re not into art or don’t see yourself displaying any statue or sculpture out front where you live…what sculpture might it be?

I know where there is a liquid cooled 1918 Continental 4 cyl. gasoline donkey engine with clutch type PTO. It has cast iron cylinders with aluminum block. Not doubt any that were available during WWII were scrapped for the aluminum.

A steel company was recently dismantled in my neighborhood. They had a 12-foot camshaft upright on display for years and last week I noticed it’s gone. That would be neat having a souvenir of the local industry.

If I could have anything I want? Probably this one.

I’d need a bigger lawn, though.

Cool ideas so far jellies!

I suppose that either Rodin’s Le Penseur or the statue of Socrates outside the Academy of Athens would be the obvious choice. But if I wanted to add a bit of character to my lawn, I might lean more towards René Magritte’s Le Thérapeute or Duchamp’s Bicycle Wheel.

Anything by Brancusi, or one of Picasso’s sculptures, out front where I would see it coming home would please me no end.

I like the bronze sculptures being displayed in many places now. Where I live they have bronze cattle coming to cross the road at the entrance of a town square with a western theme. In other parks and shopping areas I’ve seen bronze statues of children at play, and dogs and cats.

I think I’d like a statue of a woman on a bench in bronze. Either looking at the sky with a look on her face if enjoying the warmth of the sun, or maybe with her head down reading a book. Something where she looked calm and doing something for herself.

I really love the statues with the children, but since I don’t have children it probably isn’t something I would put permanently in my lawn.

I couldn’t get a link to work, but if you want to see the cattle google Brownwood paddock The Villages bronze cattle photos, something like that.

A majestic, bronze, life size model of myself standing proud with hands on hips.
The plinth will have WE HAVE STAFF FOR THAT emblazoned upon it…naturally.
Actually, that is such a great idea I should have one commissioned immediately.

I’ll have the huge Wall Street bull.

The home owner’s association would sue me to get it removed. HA!

Possibly Degas’ Little Dancer or a George Segal or a Calder mobile.

@mazingerz88 It has been there since 1973, two years ago it was “conserved” to repair and paint it.

^^ Oh good. So they put it in storage when it’s not out. There were times in the past I’ve walked past and can’t recall seeing it. Would love to see a triceratops on a front lawn also.

It’s still in the courtyard by the old Times Newspaper, the “conserve” was to repair rust, damage and repainting it. I think it weights 40 tons.
My kids 40 years ago would run around underneath it.
It is on the Burr Mall between Main St & Prospect St.

A 12-inch tall, life-size statue of Mike Hawk. ;-)

I feel I would have a subtle sculpture. That of a delicate rose being held in an equally delicate hand, protruding from a patch of well kept flowers. I feel it has a certain amount of simplicity to it that I just adore.

I like all the big pieces at Storm King but I’d also love @zenvelo‘s Brancusis and Picassos ..

A dirt sculpture of Trump’s head. I would enjoy watching it accumulate bird droppings and then succumb to the forces of nature.
