How do I connect with people my own age?
I graduated college 6 months ago. I’m in my early 20s, and I live with my parents in a small town. I’ve been spending the last 183 days looking for jobs and internships in my college major, while also looking for part-time work.
I often spend my free time alone or with my family. Now, I love my family, but I’m desperately looking to hang out with people my own age. With all my friends from college miles away and often busy, it’s been a heavy struggle.
So, I was wondering if anybody had any advice for me on how I would go about meeting new people.

Once you get a job it will be easier to find friends. In the meantime, do things you enjoy and you will find like minded people. Join a hiking club, a cooking class, a pottery class, yoga or anything that catches your fancy. Volunteer for a politician that you like. There are so many ways to get out and meet people.
Rope, it’s the ties that bind ;-}
Join meet-up dot com. There are plenty of meet ups for every interest and age group.
Also, see if your college alumni asscoiation has any groups in your area. My school has ‘recent grad” groups all over the country, in addition to the regular all-ages alumni groups.
Find a group or organization that matches your beliefs, whether you’re spiritual or not, religious or atheist, etc. there are groups for every belief. Often within those groups are activities for young adults. Some of my most favorite memories are from such activities!
In my early 20s I lived with my folks in a small town. If I didn’t have a car I would have gone crazy! AOL was just coming out, so I found some socialization through their chat rooms. It didn’t really help, though. I felt more isolated by living online. What really made me happy was the young adult group, hanging out with college classmates, and figuring out how to live independent of my parents. (I was 27 when I finally had my own apartment without roommates and without being a college student. For me, it was a long but worthy process.)

One might as well try elsewhere and meet up with like minded youth as well.
