I think it is a mistake to think that life has some external meaning that is imposed upon it (and therefore upon us as well). Instead, meaning is something that we bring to the world. It is something that we create rather than something we discover.

Meaning does not exist until a particular form of life creates an abstraction or concept that defines “meaning”
As far as we can observe only human beings can think conceptually
Thus life emerges and evolves for eons before the idea of meaning arrives
Thus life preceded meaning, meaning did not precede life
Thus living things with a conceptual mind define meaning rather than meaning defining living things
Middle school. Everybody’s mean in middle school.
Stories have a moral, for the purpose of making a point.
Don’t mix up teaching tools with simple existence.
There is no purpose to life, other than avoiding death when you can.
The fact that it happens does not require or imply that it have a meaning. Meaning exists nowhere but in the mind. So give it whatever meaning you want it to have, and there you are.
The meaning of this life is practice. We are in boot camp for our next life which has a meaning of service.
There is no “meaning.” No reason. No point.

How can it make sense for life to have meaning? It makes it seem life is some code that can be translated. It is not. Life just is.
What is the meaning of a dog’s life, or a worm’s life?
I think if the meaning of life was a number it would only make sense that it was a prime number, right? And, also, Jackie Robinson already took 42 and I’m pretty sure it’s retired so we need a new number. And also, my pineapple juice took that number.
