I'm a freelancer. How can I get US$ 4000 in two months to pay my tuition fees? (No student loans are available in my country and crowdfunding isn't an option)

Asked by novemberugh (7points) November 11th, 2018

I work as a freelance translator. My monthly income is approximately US$ 600. I applied for jobs at more than 50 places, but no one replied yet. I also tried my luck at some literary contests, but I didn’t win. Most of the contests require entry fees and I cannot afford losing more money. Even if I afford it, the results take time to be announced. What else can I do to earn US$ 4000 in two months? My tuition fees are about US$ 8000. I’ve already saved US$ 3000 and I can save about US$ 1000 by the end of the year. I will be in need of US$ 4000 and I have to pay by January. Any help or suggestion? Thank you.

Sell things. Ask family for money. Get a few more jobs. Sell your plasma. You dont specify your languages or skills, or your country. You coming here to study? Too many unknown factors.

$4000 is a lot of money. Most of us don’t have that kind of cash lying around, and we’d have to do something pretty vigorous to come up with it in a few weeks’ time.

Trying to win it in a contest is probably one of the least sure ways. I’d say put your efforts into something you know will return some value instead of something that’s a gamble with long odds against you (and requiring a nonrefundable investment up front). At a guess, playing dice at a casino is probably a better bet than entering a literary contest.

Why not stick with something safe, even if not as pretty? A minimum-wage job in retail or food service, for example, is probably going to get you there quicker than writing a short story or poem.
