Has Trump been wearing a purple tie more often lately?

Asked by JLeslie (65719points) November 26th, 2018 from iPhone

The last couple of weeks I’ve noticed him wearing a purple tie.

Do Republicans notice this? Care?

Does it mean anything?

Who the hell cares when they’re tear gassing immigrants at the border? C’mon.

Why would it matter even if he was? It’s a goddamn tie. You people love imagining bullshit where it doesn’t exist.

@SergeantQueen Saying “you people” is almost always a derogatory remark. If you don’t like the OP’s question, address your answer to her.

I’m with @SergeantQueen.
Look around at other threads.
Assumptions made on behalf of Trump supporters, and even supposing to know what our president plans, knows, wants, likes.
Until Trump opposers are willing to stop lumping us in a pit of lost causes, expect the same in return.

@JLeslie, I have had the same observation, so perhaps he has.
Does it have any significance? I believe only time will tell.

Kinda along the same lines as “What Melania Wore This Week”: something to be ignored.

Or maybe: Gogol Bordello

I think that if he is in fact wearing purple, he is doing it to reflect the electorate and it’s attitudes as the American population slowly moves to embrace the democratic party.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Are the colors of his tie supposed to mean anything?
And WHY do Trump supporters get all bent out of shape and when thinking Trump opposers lump them in all together, but do the exact same thing when it comes to dealing with opposers?

Haven’t noticed personally.

For @SergeantQueen and @Patty_Melt Ties are important to some more than others.

So he bought a new tie. He wore the red one for almost three years, and he can’t ever seem to tie it right. Glad he got a new one.

Squeeky, people who do not live in the US, pay taxes in the US, raise family in the US, have no place supposing they can speak for the citizens of this country.
For that matter, people should not treat their next door neighbor like that.

ucme's avatar

Guess you could tag his presidency a purple reign…big Prince fan huh?

Demosthenes's avatar

I think it’s some kind of white power salute.

Disclaimer: The above statement is a joke.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Then tell your leader to get rid of the unjust tariffs and I will stop.
The US has treated Canada poorly for years, so talk about treating your neighbour like that, PULEEZE.
I side with people that want the wealthy to pay their share of the tax burden.
I side with people that think affordable health care is a right.
I side with people that think affordable post secondary education is a right, not something for only the wealthy.
I side with people that view climate change as a real event and if not dealt with, we will be in horrible trouble ,not scoffed at.
Sorry if that gets you upset, but look at the bright side there are still plenty of minimum wage jobs that people can’t live off, that must be a good thing right?

JLeslie's avatar

So much upset from a simple silly tie question? That surprises me. I just wondered if Republicans were noticing. I don’t see how anyone can miss that Democrats tend to wear blue ties and Republicans red and Independents purple.

He actually had a blue tie on a few weeks ago, I don’t remember where. Actually, I’m not sure if what I saw was a recent clip or not, I only know I saw it on TV recently.

@SergeantQueen Which “you people?” @janbb and I?

@SQUEEKY2 Funny, I never think of the President as “my leader.” Not any president ever. I never would think to use that term/phrase. I don’t think of myself as a follower, or the American people. I think of the president as “elected” and a “representative” and “responsible” (hopefully) for protecting our nation not only militarily, but our ideals and constitution.

Demosthenes's avatar

I’ve never paid attention to Democrats wearing blue ties and Republicans wearing red ties. If you had mentioned that in the question, you might’ve gotten a different response.

It’s probably spilled food or drink. It won’t be bullshit, bullshit is brown.

SergeantQueen's avatar

@JLeslie Since apparently, it isn’t clear “You people” include people dumb enough to actually think a purple tie has any significance.

JLeslie's avatar

@SergeantQueen Well, so far it doesn’t seem like anyone on this Q thinks it means anything really significant so save your condescension.

During my lifetime, politicians wore red ties because red is a symbol of power!!! I haven’t noticed that Dems are wearing blue, Reps wearing red & Indis wearing purple;but, that doesn’t mean that it’s not happening..just that I don’t pay attention to such things. My vote has NEVER hinged on the color of the tie some clown is wearing!!! After the freak out here, I did a little bit of research. While visiting the US/Mexico border, he wore red. I don’t know where he was but several days he wore blue. Then over the last week or so, he’s been wearing what appears to be a red & blue tie which gives the appearance of purple on camera. Even stranger, while looking at his ties, I ran into the news of the day where Russia & the Ukraine are going at it & I discovered that the red & blue = purple is a similar tie to what Putin was wearing today…just saying!!!
