Is the greatest piece of evidence yet that Trump has no clue how to run a business?
And no clue on how the economy, and his economic policies, can affect businesses? In an article in Vanity Fair Trump reacts to GM cutting 1,600 jobs in one town:
“Tearing into the company during an interview on Monday, Trump relayed his conversation with C.E.O. Mary Barra to The Wall Street Journal, telling the paper he told her, “I heard you’re closing your plant” and warning that it better not “be closed for long . . . Mary, because if it is you have a problem,” like the 1920s gangster he thinks he is. To the Journal, the president repeated his vague threat about what might happen if the company doesn’t immediately open a new facility in the town where they literally just announced they’ll be closing the existing one. “They better damn well open a new plant there very quickly,” Trump told the paper. “I love Ohio. I told them, ‘you’re playing around with the wrong person.’”
Does he not understand the basic math problem here?

I wonder how the trumptards will rationalise the fact that they foam at the mouth at the mere mentioning of regulations that were enacted through the proper democratic institutions as an expression of the ‘will of the people’, yet are completely fine with this wannabe dictator directly threatening companies like some alcohol fueled mob boss.
One would also think that he would have learned (from Melania if no one else) that bullying is not an acceptable way to act in modern society.
Trump.s comment is rather stupid anyway. If the Cruze vehicle were selling in volume (which it isn’t) then they would keep the Lordstown plant open. It’s hard for me to understand how Trump wants to force GM to build cars that aren’t going to be sold. It’s just dumb.
If there’s anyone to blame, it is the oil shale industry because they found lots of oil, which keeps gas cheap, which means that people still buy larger SUVs and pickups. But that’s a level of nuance that his Trumpiness doesn’t get.
It’s just dumb. . Exactly. But this nonsense is coming from the mouth of “the most shrewd business man in the world.” Just ask his followers.
He’s just a person who isn’t accustomed to hearing “no.” He seems to think that things can be achieved through sheer will. Like many of his supporters, he is detached from reality… I wouldn’t read too much into it. It’s just the norm now….
No muzzle is sufficient, no embarrassment too painful. Our President defies all norms, including those required for a diagnosis of sanity. He’s a lopsided top wobbling through a pretense at governing. Each and every prounouncement must elicit a response of “is he serious?” Nothing can be believed nor accepted at face value, as the rules around the credibility of normal conversation are forcibly suspended.
