Catholic priests have been molesting children for years and it is hidden from the public. Two nuns embezzle money and it’s all over the news. Do you think they should be given a pass also?

The priests have been moved around so their illegal behavior was hidden for years, though the higher ups were well aware of the claims and charges of molesting children. Two nuns were caught embezzling money and they are all over the news. Should the church officials protect them too, or let them face charges?

Nuns are not as good as cover-ups as priests are.
I think that to be a successful criminal, you need to be as good at covering up your misdeeds as you are at doing the misdeeds in the first place.
It’s high time that nuns are allowed to be clergy (and say Mass, and so on), so that they can develop the same level of criminal skills that male clergy do. If women ever want to be seen as equal to men in the Catholic hierarchy, they have to be just as scandalous.
No, they should not be given a pass too. I think the other way should be pushed…put the priests all over the news and prosecute them as well. By hiding those things, the church is saying that is behavior they condone.
Is it really all over the news? Haven’t seen it yet.
I hadn’t seen it either; so, I looked. The Catholic Church has always thrown their nuns under the bus. I’m not even surprised that they are willing to persecute these two!!! I’m leaving it up to God to punish the child molesting priests & I’m pretty sure those covering for them will face the same fate!!!
Absolutely not.
No one should ever be given a free pass, criminal acts are criminal acts and should be treated as such with corresponding repercussions. Period.
As a Catholic, I think the church is making a huge mistake in protecting any criminal acts, as attendance is down and religion is changing, thus the church needs to change, too.
“The amount is thought to be in the range of $500,000, but an investigation is underway to determine the full amount, Alarcon said.”
“The monsignor’s letter reads: “I want to assure you that the investigation has disclosed that, notwithstanding this misappropriation, no student or program at St. James has suffered any loss of educational resources, opportunities, or innovations. In sum, the education of your children has not and will not be affected by these events.”
So…. if $500,000 had no effect on the children’s education it sounds to me that they have been overcharging for too long. .
Interested in knowing how the sisters spent the money. Gave it away to pedophile priests’ victims? Now that deserves a movie.
From what I’ve seen, no one has received a “pass.” It is easier to hide molestation than missing money.
I’m just wondering what they spend the money on.
^^ Same here. And @chyna answered it.
By the way, stealing money meant for charities and corn-holing alter boys is apples and orangutans. Big difference. The Church doesn’t need to exercise sensitivity to victims in the nuns stealing money to fund Las Vegas vacations.
And yea verily, it did come to pass that those without sin cast the first stones.
With all the stones thrown a large team of masons were soon able to complete the construction of several new churches and schools.
Fee paying believers flocked to the new improved facilities.
Among the new recruits were two nuns from the order of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
@Pinguidchance I miss the days where Sister Boom Boom was frequently in the news for protests.
