The first. Everything else is lazy imitation feeding a dimwitted audience that wants familiarity, not quality.
Now that I have vented, I will admit Aliens was as good as Alien (Alien 3 was a shameful failure). Godfather II can be considered part of a single masterpiece with The Godfather. (Godfather III was a shameful failure). Terminator II was good.
In the Star Wars series ,nothing will ever, ever, ever beat seeing the original on the big screen when I was 14 years old, not knowing what to expect, and having the star destroyer fill the screen and go on and on and on at the beginning. Easily my favorite moment of all time as a moviegoer.
Wrath of Khan.
Jurassic Park.
Predator.
Ghost Busters.
Robocop.
Aliens (Alien Franchise)
Empire Strikes Back (Star Wars Franchise)
The Winter Soldier (MCU Franchise)
Raiders of the Lost Arc (Indiana Jones Franchise)
Jurassic Park (Jurassic Park Franchise)
The Return of the King in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
@Call Me Jay Sorry but that mentality is actually lazy thinking in my opinion. Some sequels have a reason to exist – because there’s still an interesting story to tell, especially with:
The Bride of Frankenstein
The Godfather Part II
The Empire Strikes Back
Mad Max 2
Dawn of the Dead
Toy Story 2
Shrek 2
Spider-Man 2
X2: X-Men United
Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban
The Bourne Ultimatum
The Dark Knight
How to Train Your Dragon 2
LOTR: The Return of the King
MI: Ghost Protocol
Skyfall (James Bond)
Captain America: Winter Soldier
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Paddington 2
