Can a movie that relied very heavily on special effects and CGI, be successfully duplicated as a play?

Sure, but then you’re left with the murky task of defining success. Is it box office receipts?

Just can’t see it happening but depends on which specific movie I guess and the special effects people behind the stage adaptation.
