Ever see a name with this many initial consonants?

Asked by Jeruba (56106points) December 16th, 2018

I saw a news item today that included mention of a man by the name of Brkljacich. Until now, I think the most consonants I’ve seen at the beginning of a name are three, as in, for example, Brzezinski.

Have you ever seen a name that stacked more than five?

Since I don’t know how to pronounce this name, I guess it’s possible that the L and/or the J aren’t spoken as consonants. But still.

Joseph Tymczyszyn my father knew when “Tym” was flying Boeing 707 test flights.

Przybysz. Polish name, sounds like “shibish”.

That was my first thought but the “y“s are definitely vowels. I’ve known at least two people with the name.

No one smashes consonants together like the Slavs.

In Croatian (where that name seems to be from) and other Slavic languages, “r” can be syllabic, pronounced like the “er” in the word “butter”. In that case, the r is basically functioning like a vowel. There’s an island in Croatia called “Krk”. It’s pronounced kinda like the English name Kirk, with the only vowel in the word being the “r” sound.
