Would anyone be interested in joining a personal library-type group?

We’ve had a lot of questions about reading habits and requests for recommendations of good books – would anyone else be willing to join something like Shelfari.com? (Sorry moderators, I hope it’s not inappropriate for me to mention another website.) It has categories for what you’ve read, what your favorites are, what you’re currently reading, and what you plan to read in the future. It allows for “groups”, too. It also allows for reviews. I know that personally, there are quite a few folks here whose opinion I would value. Any interest?

I think I’d give it a go.
It sounds interesting. I’d certainly be open to at least trying it.
I’d be open to trying it, too.
Ok, I’ve created a Fluther group. If you go to Shelfari.com and join, look under groups. I’ve left the membership unrestricted, so just jump in.
i am up for it! will take some time to transfer all my books read and reviews from Books iRead to Shelfari though. have joined the fluther group, good idea syz :)
It sounds good. I think it would take awhile to ad all the books I read that are packed among 15+ boxes in my closet having been read 4+ times each
I’d give it a go. It’d be good to see what that’s all about.
Yes, I’ve just been adding a few as I think about it. It’s gonna take a while to get it up to date.
I have a friend who lives in New Jersey that I exchange books with. We ship big cardboard boxes back and forth every couple of months (hooray for the postal book rate). We found that we were buying and shipping the same ones, so we’re trying this out to avoid the duplications.
Thanks! I will check it out.
although I am not as voracious a reader as some, I hope I will be able to contribute…
i’m in! i’ve been trying to start to get more into reading :)
I’ll join, and add the few books that I have, I’ve yet to find a good, fiction based book to read. All the stuff on my list are non-fiction or programming books hehe.
I’m already on shelfari so I’m definitely joining the fluther group yew! (I’m Alison by the way)
I just joined and put up a few books that I’m reading now (plus my all-time favorite book, A Swiftly Tilting Planet).
I already have most of my books in Delicious Library – I wonder if there’s a way to transfer them into Shelfari…
It does have an “Upload list” function
Excellent – I’ll check it out. Thanks!
I’m on Shelfari too, one of the best things I ever did as far as keeping track of my books is concerned.
Ok, I’m out of books…..I started a discussion for recommendations in the “fluther” group of Shelfari. Anybody willing to post book there?
I am afraid I would be a camper. I don’t have that many to suggest but would love to go there as I trust others.
If that is ok I am in.
Right now I am reading the Scarlet Pimpernell. Excellent period piece.
Oh sure, I have quite a few, I’ll go over and post there now. ;)
I just posted 10 titles on the group bookshelf. I posted them under we’ve read. I posted them there for the moment because I’m about to go out and I wanted to give some suggestions for whoever needs new titles to read. I’ll post more about those books when I get home, and I’ll add some more titles too. My Shelfari name is Late2Serenity. I’ve got over 500 titles on my shelf, and about to add more, so if you’re really at a loose end for titles then you should find something there. I have a very eclectic taste. Please feel free to ask me about any of them.
How do I ad titles to the group. I figured out how to ad them to my shelves.
Click on the book title, which will take you to the page for that particular book, on the right hand side of the page you will see that you have a couple of options, one of them is Add To My Group. Click on that, and you will be taken to a page listing all of the Shelfari groups you are a member of. Scroll down to the Fluther group, and you will see that there are three options We’re Reading, We’ve Read, and None. I’ve been adding mine to We’ve Read.
