What do you believe Paul McCartney's legacy will be?
In my opinion, no band has influenced music, culture, society, damn near every aspect of a generation. Their influence is still seen today. I often wonder what would have or could have happened had John Lennon lived and George Harrison lived.

McCartney has been a prolific songwriter but, personally, I don’t think anything he has done post Beatles that can be compared as what he put out in collaboratively with John Lennon.
Well, other than Mull of Kintyre this particular version was described in a comment as “German bagpipes playing a song about Scotland written by a Liverpool Englishman of Irish descent.”
If The Beatles hadn’t broken up in the 70’s and continued performing, I bet their legacy would actually be diminished and not as great as it is today.
As for Paul McCartney, I think his legacy is pretty strong, although his latest albums have been hit or miss.
I’m surprised when I see he headlines at festivals like Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. In my mind he’s a legend with the Beatles with an OK career afterwards. I’m curious how many of the kids would actually see him if he weren’t sandwiched between more current acts.
No offense to Ringo, but I think Paul is seen as the surviving Beatle, half of one of the greatest song-writing duos ever, and a hell of a nice guy. For music fans, he is living breathing history — primarily for the Beatles, but he has his share of Wings fans as well.
He was hit or miss after the Beatles. He knew music, and could respond well to competition, but suffered when he worked without peers.
He has resisted the dvd release of Let It Be because he rightfully worries it makes him look bad.
