What do you think is the emotion that joins up all human beings on Earth? (I'm not going to talk about animals)

Not love.

Fear. That’s what motivates people.

Lust. Hate. Anger. Envy. And yes, Fear.

It is sadness. Sadness makes people wonder about themselves. It gives thoughts, that can lead to communication skills.
It also let their vulnerable to others, actually able to show the communication skills.

It also could be happiness (excited) if you think that the last one was too emo.
The more happiness it gives; more it is wanted.

Aren’t all the emotions we feel as individuals shared by humanity? That’s what makes us human. Even the response we feel when we look at a painting, or listen to music, though we can’t describe the emotion, we feel It, and we know that others can feel it too wherever they might be in the world.

@flutherother: All emotions derives from few basic.

That may be true, but some evolution has taken place and we can feel quite subtle and complex emotions also.

What about those of us who don’t really do fear? I would choose compassion or empathy.

Although I’d rather say animals and talk about that. :)
