Are there any programs that will force a program to finish uninstalling?
My brand new laptop was going wonky just like my desk top did. I checked to make sure I didn’t have more than 1 antivirus program installed and damn if McAfee isn’t in my program list. I did not install it. That’s the program that caused all my issues on my desk top. My computer guy said they used to be really good, but they’re just horrible now and they never advise people to use that program.
I called the computer guys that have my desk top and told them about it, asked if it was OK to uninstall it.
He said, “Sure, but it has a nasty habit of ‘breaking’ when you try to uninstall.”
I said, “How will I know if it breaks?”
He said, “It won’t finish uninstalling. But if it happens we have a program that will finish the uninstall.”
So I did and it broke.
I could wait until Saturday, when we get my desk top, but I wondered if I could just do it myself?

Man, my local guy who I’ve been dealing with for 10 years, and who I trust completely, has told me that they used to use McAfee, but it’s gotten really bad recently and they don’t any more.
Well, I bought this lap top at Best Buy and ran the issue past them, and they said they install McAfee AV on all of the computers they sell.
Now I’m just confused.
I’ve been using ESET for quite a number of years, it’s brilliant.
My go to has been iobit uninstaller, it does a scan to remove temporary files, registry entries and stuff that many programs but leave behind, it’s completely free as well.

Nothing to be confused about. Worst Buy has a marketing agreement with McAfee.
Oh. Of course. I should have thought of that.
Anyway, things are all better now. McAfee is gone, AVG is in.
