Should Democrats match Trump’s offer of temporary protection for DACA with a budget for IKEA style foldable border wall?

Not sure if Trump’s being his normal stupid self or he’s initiating a series of brilliant political chess moves which would win him the “game” against the Dems.
Which do you think it is?

The DACA “offer” is meaningless. DACA is already protected by several federal courts and, yesterday, the Supreme Court took no action on the Trump administration’s request to end the program. Temporary protection is in place for at least another year.
^^Thank you. Have a feeling trump was merely performing the same old tricks that for some hard to fathom reason still works on his supporters.
The other thing that means Trump is lying: he can’t make the offer. The House and Senate have to pass a law, and as we know, the Tea Party wing of the various congressional houses will kill it. So he might make the offer, but there’s nothing he can guarantee.
Today’s announcement was a nothingburger.
^^So trump is calculating he could get away with making it look like the ball is on the Dems side of the court and they now own the shutdown?
That this is a game to him is just insane. The DC Metro according to a news report is now losing hundreds of thousands of dollars each day of the shutdown.
@mazingerz88 I think that was behind his speech. Trying to take pressure off of him.
Two other points
- what good is a 3-year DACA postponement? We would end up playing the same game then.
- Something like this was suggested as a trade back a year ago. He turned it down then. Why believe him now?
^^Only an insane and heartless person would play with the lives of DACA recipients like they’re chips in a poker game.
Only deal for a wall that the Democrats should offer is a wall made of the corpses of MAGA shitheads. We can start with these kids.
^^Wtf’s wrong with those kids?
^ These brownshirts kids are from Covington Catholic school in Kentucky. (article) Happened today.
^^The damage this horrible trump president creature has inflicted on this country is just unforgiveable.
Allowing the Dreamers to stay for another three years just gives them a postponement, not a future. It’s like telling Trump he can have his wall for three years then he must tear it down again.
No. They shouldn’t budge. Remember, the $5 billion is unlikely to be enough. Estimates have run higher than $20 billion. That’s one of the sticking points.
If the wall would be effective, it would be a different discussion.
did anyone else notice that in @rebbel ‘s instruction manual the Mexican is on the wrong side of the wall?
Actually @MrGrimm888 estimates are in the high 30’s and, based on prior history, are likely to end up costing 1½ times again as much.
All Trump offered was stuff he had tried to take away over the past two years and, given his record to date, you cannot trust him so I would say no to his offer even if I did not believe that absolutely no wall should be built as a matter of conscience.
