Why do we feel the need to tell everyone how amazing our moments are?
Why do we shame those who share moments that are deeply personal and not amazing?

By documenting, do you mean posting something in social media? or just journaling something privately and offline?
@Jeruba Good question. I’m thinking social media.
I document almost everything in a personal diary and very little on social media. What is of interest to me isn’t always of interesting to others and anyway I like to keep some things private.

I’m old. All the time. (Specifically? Cute dog thing ten minutes ago.)
If this was in Social I would mention my bowel movement this morning, which I certainly appreciated but since it isn’t, I won’t.
That and doing so would mean that I just did document it.
Doh!
Constantly. I don’t post anything on social media. Most recent time I appreciated something without documenting it? Probably about 30 seconds ago, when I finished the crisp, sweet-tart Pink Lady apple I was eating. I can’t imagine pausing to post a picture of it, but I guess people really do that.
It’s sad to hear that people “feel the need to tell everyone how amazing [their] moments are.” Before social media came into your life, did you feel that something was missing?
And do social media users really want to see pictures of other people’s apples? Are they so different from their own?
