What other reasons would the White House have for photoshopping pictures of Trump?

Asked by filmfann (52488points) January 23rd, 2019 from iPhone

The news media recently noticed pictures of the president have been altered to make him thinner, with larger hands.

No other reasons are required. The president is a egomaniac.

I read about that, but I couldn’t really tell the difference.

1. To reduce the unnatural orange colour of his head
2. To remove the permanent scowl from his face without resorting to surgery.
3. To show him reading a book or a government report (It’s never going to happen in real life)
4. To add a MAGA baseball cap to the rare pictures when he isn’t wearing one.
5. To erase sacked government officials from official photographs.
6. To remove the smirk from Putin’s face in photographs taken with Trump.
7. To show him in full military uniform complete with Purple Heart.
8. To show double the crowd numbers at the Trump inauguration.

To make him look likable.

I’m guessing many presidents have been photoshopped.

First version of PhotoShop was released in 1990. Bush 41 was president. We’re now on #45. So not “many,” no matter how you count them. In any case, I doubt that any one of his 4 immediate predecessors (not to mention the 40 before that) could match this one for vanity.

It was the only aspect of the fool over which anyone has any positive influence, and even that change is of course fraudulent.

@Jeruba I guess I meant “many” since photoshopping was introduced. I also am thinking in my lifetime, not since Washington.

I’m in agreement with the vanity statement. Not just vanity for attractiveness, but also concern about looking powerful from what I can tell. I haven’t listened much to what they are saying about what is altered on his image, but the one spot I saw on TV was he looked thinner and his hand larger as mentioned by the OP.

It seemed to me to try to draw comparisons to Hitler’s obsession with showing a powerful image, but I didn’t hear the particular news report say that. I don’t like using Hitler comparisons, as you might know, but Hitler did photo shoots to try to make himself seem taller, and in charge. The fist up high in the air is often discussed, and some other photos. Hitler has been analyzed to death of course.

I’m not sure if it’s all Trump himself, or the people around him. Trump has said over and over he likes his hair, and other attributes he possesses.

Bill Clinton was so vain, that guy would jack off to his own reflection & Reagan dyed his hair, a sure sign of shallow vanity given the age he kept this up to.
