Will manipulation of human baby genes make them more resistant to disease?

If that’s the case are we going to see a future generation of humans getting less cancer and other debilitating diseases?
Wouldn’t that be great? Is there a catch?

Isn’t that what Hitler was trying to do? Create a super race? It wouldn’t stop at disease free humans. It would start dictating hair and eye color, intelligence level, height, and on and on.
I don’t think it’s a good idea.
The catch could be overpopulation of healthy people that reach higher and higher ages.
That is such a good idea. People who disagree don’t understand the pain of those who suffer from genetic diseases. There’s no catch about it. It has been done in the form of gene therapy.
Its called eugenics. Some of the darker sides of the past involed it. Hopefully it doesn’t come down to good intentions, and is discussed before used. It would be great to eliminate diseases, but as long as it is not used to discriminate against race or gender identity or other creepy things from the movie GATTACA.
Maybe not, considering disease of today and not in the future? Who knows what the consequences will be in manipulating genes..it may open up the person to other more serious diseases without natural defenses that the human body already had?
Apparently In China a Doctor ( maybe Geneticist?) lost his job for manipulating two couples unborn babies while still in the womb..won’ know the consequences until those babies are grown?
