Just asking as I would very much like to join, but unsure of its intent etc
Is this the picture from 10 yrs ago and from now so callled challenge?
Well the terms of service explicitly state that you retain the copyright to whatever images you submit (that’s fairly standard unless it’s a work-for-hire), but they also state that by submitting your images you grant the site and it’s sponsors permission to use your images in whatever manner they wish with no recompense to or control by you. That last bit would be the big sticking point for me personally. Photography is my chosen medium of artistic expression and I wouldn’t be willing to surrender control over how my art might be used. I’d hate, for example, to see one of my photographs used by some religious or political group without my knowledge or consent.
But that’s me. If photography is more of a for-fun thing for you, and you’re not terribly concerned about your images being used (I make no judgements ether way) then I’d say go for it if you want.

I read an unsubstantiated rumor that Facebook would use the 10 year challenge for facial recognition software development. I don’t know if that’s true or not. Looking at the site, that may not be relevant to your question.

@Darth Algar
I was worried about that as in my local Town the Banks ( actually across Canada ) have yearly contests and do use the photographs submitted ( all) to create yearly Calendars of which we clients of the Bank purchase.
Also on weather network they regularly ask for photographs as well as some news channels on TV, and they use and resell by way of calendars too!
No since I spend a lot of time photographing and editing and creating, so NO I will not join this Project. Thanks for the clarification about there terms etc
