Or on the side of the curb?
Or up for grabs somewhere?

Gosh….Brand new, still-in-the-plastic mattresses. Not the coolest thing (still thinking about that) but certainly the most valuable.
@Dutchess_III years ago my husband borrowed a pick up truck to haul a mattress we were buying from a model home. It fell off the back of the truck and when he went back to look for it on the freeway, it was gone. Was that you?
Some years ago, I drove over a mattress (on the Capital Beltway, of all places). It was late at night in a very dark place, and I never had a chance to see what was ahead. The mattress got badly stuck under my car. Thanks to some miracle, I managed to pull into the breakdown lane, without hurting myself or anyone else, and wait for a tow truck.
Was that your husband’s fault, @janbb ? :-)
Potted plant with integrated ant nest.
I found a fake potted ficus on the side of the side of the highway once. I put it in my office at work. Was that yours @Ragingloli??
No, no.
Both the plant and the ants were real.
A friend of a friend of my girlfriend found a puppy in a garbage container some days ago, and a few days later another one.
They’re both alive, they are adopted.
They are not mine so they must be Rebbel’s.
Well, even I found a slightly moving potted cactus which yielded 10,000 baby tarantulas once
But as for treasures, I have a few steampunk-looking old typewriters.
When I was twelve, during the American Bicentennial, I found an antique blood pump in an alley between the original Baptist Hospital and Campbell Clinic. It is older than plastic tubing—uses rubber tubing.
@janbb No, the friend of the friend adopted them (she, and the friend, are both great animal lovers that adopt, feed, and take care of, any (stray) cat and dog they come across).
My girlfriend and I adopted a ginger kitty some months ago, and we feed some strays in our yard.
This is all in Greece.
I once found a beautiful kitten at a laundry mat. It was a longhair, all white, except it had a grey tail. I brought her home. My daughter water colored on her back! That cat came sashaying out of my daughter’s room with green and purple and red streaks down its back. I imagine it felt pretty good to the cat.
Found one of these in a pile of rusty scrap at the dump. Cleaned up they sell for a couple hundred bucks.
This isn’t exactly dumpster diving, but I’ve bought some gorgeous clothes at consignment shops in Bethesda and Chevy Chase, Maryland. Some of the local ladies buy pricey outfits, only to wear them once or twice before selling. The only thing better than the items are the rock-bottom prices.
There is an exclusive community inside the actual city of Wichita that is a city of it’s own. It’s called Eastborough. About a 2 miles south, outside of Eastborough was a thrift store, and boy did the have some high dollar stuff! I bought a pair of Italian sandels once. Lost them in Texas, though. :(
It shut down long ago, probably thanks to Goodwill.
The coolest thing was definitely a box of old records. Dylan, the Beatles, the Clash, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, and one Gary Numan album.
Not me, and not really dumpster diving, but long ago I heard a story from my teacher about how he found a copy of Doctor Zhivago by accidentally eyeing a scrap yard sale. The book was intended to be sold as paper supply for flee markets and other mundane things. My teacher said the seller didn’t know how much value he was holding in his hand.
I was sitting out back of the place I worked, smoking, when a guy from the business office supply store came out, rolling a really nice looking office chair, obviously heading for the dumpsters. It was a highback, a maroon print, quite nice.
I said,“Where ya goin’ with my chair?”
He said, “Some really fat person sat in it and broke the back here,” and he showed me.
I said, “I’ll give ya $10 for it!”
And it was a back alley deal sealed.
You can’t even see the break unless you look for it. I still have it.
It looks a lot like this only with a maroon cloth print and the arms and legs are wooden, not plastic.
Our local Thrift shop does not take furniture, so when people leave furniture anyways anyone is allowed to take it away.It was really dirty and musty , but I cleaned it up
Thus I found an old Korean Cabinet with all the antique looking locks and beautiful woodwork, only thing was the top caved in a bit but I covered it with table runner and its gorgeous!
I use it in a variety of ways too. On its side on the carpet and covered with a huge glass picture frame , it made for a great interesting coffee table.
@Dutchess_III
Are you asking me for a picture or just saying that you had a picture?
I’m ask you for the picture of the Korean cabinet. I’m intrigued.
@Dutchess_III
For some reason copy paste of image does not copy onto Fluther? Is there a different procedure
to do? I do not want people access to my computer.
I have sent a message to Fluther mods for solving this on Fluther?
Do you have a photobucket or imigur (sp) account online that you can upload photos to?
No you can not load pictures directly from your computer on to Fluther like you can on Facebook.
Well, here is a link to Photobucket. http://s212.photobucket.com/
You can make an account and upload pictures to your photobucket account. From there you can post them to here.
Using an online program like that is the only way to post pictures here.
Is there a cost involved?
No cost involved.
But, actually, I don’t suggest Photobucket. It’s gotten awfully squirrly.
Let’s find out how to make an imagur account.
Thank You I will check this out as well.
Well, I made an account. Here is my first attempt at sharing a picture.
I really need to ask a question about this site. I want to make sure it’s private.
So far this is much better than Photobucket! Yay me.
ANYHOW my daughter once found a small, cozy Cinderella child’s recliner out on the curb. Nothing at all wrong with it. She gave it to her then 2 year old niece.
Anyone who has the link can find the picture.
It is not at all private.
OK, I sent you a link to the picture. Can you see the other pictures in my account?
There are no raunchy pictures in my account! Here look again.
@Dutchess_III
Wow so many problems registering..have sent them a message to correct as I registered several times before realizing NO spaces allowed in between. I contacted them..no reply as yet?
What a hassle! Scarey notice about hacking of there site in 2014 and 2017 note about security?
I see that you used same username as on Fluther..I didn’t, I created a similar name , not the same. IF I actually get registered??? I will add that image of the cabinet.Have you read the terms of service..they can reuse any images that one posts in anyway.So I will not be posting good photographs that I will be using in my self pub books.
Cute photograph of child.
I don’t know. I can’t see what you are doing. I created mine OK.
@Dutchess_III
I guess it would had helped if they outlined the requirements for both user and passwords better.
Too general, should had stated up front NO spaces .
Plus kept asking to register with my email as a user name??
I finally received a reply , that they will get back to me soon to fix.
I made an error in re imputing my user name mistype missing one letter etc..gave up until I realized..so they will fix it and get back to me.
Start over. Maybe RedDeerGuy can help you out. We need to take this to PM. It’s gotten way off track even for social.
His name was Ted, found by our then gardener Henry who subsequently adopted him as his muse.
We had to terminate Henry’s contract after he began trimming the estate hedges in Ted’s image, can’t be having that nonsense about the place, dear me no.
