If you had a choice, what would you want to receive for Valentine's Day?

Asked by jca2 (16898points) February 14th, 2019

On the radio, they had a poll. What would women want to receive for Valentine’s Day? The results weren’t surprising – the top three were cards, jewelry and flowers. I think candy was in the top poll results also.

When I had a S.O., I used to like to go to dinner out for Valentine’s Day, although the restaurants were always crowded.

What would you want to receive for Valentine’s Day, if you had the choice?

A special meal, cooked at home. And a special picture to keep.

To be spared from this onslaught of commercialised bullshit.

A clean house and dinner.

A huge box, delivered to my door, from which my girlfriend would pop out.

I did surprise her like that 2 years ago, sans box (and in the summer).
Said goodnight to each other (she in Greece, I in the Netherlands) online, knocked her door 12 hours later.
Needless to say she didn’t expect to see me.
Was really something else.

We already have the lobster tail and the filet for a turf and surf, served from the grill. Candy would be OK, too. But even if we didn’t even notice the day that would be OK.

A new valentines rescue puppy.

^ Oooh…that. Except I’d rather have a trip to an excellent breeder, so I can pick the puppy myself.

I try to think of Valentine’s as being fun and low-key, a day for little treats rather than real gifts. A letter or just little notes, flowers maybe…my husband made some really cool bowls out of pure chocolate, and we’ll be eating ice cream out of those in a minute. That seems perfect to me.

Not the thing that I received – a bruised and swollen instep. At the gym today, I managed to drop a 5 lb. plate on the top of my foot, and from a tall height. Very graceful, Lori.

But, I also got a gorgeous bouquet of red roses, a sweet card, and dinner out tonight. Yes, I’ll find a way to limp into the restaurant.

@longgone I get ya, I have an ethical issue with breeders, but I do understand. I have a gorgeous goldendoodle from the local pound that looks like a teddy bear. Golden fur, grinch paws and big brown eyes with a big brown nose. :)

Ohhhh, wow, chocolate bows sound amazing, what a clever idea! Good job Mr. Longgone!

@Dutchess Not sure how that would go over in suburbia, already have a walker coon next door…haha (besides thats YOUR valentines present…haha)

Fava beans and a nice Chianti.

I don’t care about getting anything, but if I have to choose it is receiving a card.

I don’t want my husband to buy me flowers or chocolate.

No fighting all day, and happy smiles, and cuddles sound good. That all sounds good every day.

Last night I cut out pink and red hearts in various sizes and made a homemade card. I put the hearts all over the house. Some very easy to see on counters and on top of his computer. Some, I’m not sure if he found all of them yet. Under the clip for his cereal, in his car (I don’t think he drove today) in his phone holder for his bike, where he keeps his house keys. I do the hearts almost every year the last 10 years.

Ricky came home from the grocery store and shoved a box of Queen Ann chocolate covered cherries at me! LOL! Yep. My favorite.

They sell a coffee mug at Poundland, printed on it the text “You’ll do.”
