If you forget all the things you want to say to another person because (s)he's talking for a determined amount of time and you pay attention to him/her, would you still participate in a debate?

Call it attention deficit, I don’t know the technical term(s). However, what I said in my question reflects all the attention I put onto the relative concepts.

Why would you need to debate this person?

Cases of life, it’s not always fair.

I don’t think I would be debating people (IRL) unless I was on a debate team. I would just talk to them.

@Kardamom: And in case of a discussion? In that case, you would get embarrassed.

If you have something you want to say to someone that is predetermined, then you are not having a conversation. A conversation involves active listening to understand what the person is saying and respond to that.

In a formal debate, people take notes of what the other person is saying so they can rebut. And they can refer to notes when stating their opinion.
