Is it a good idea for the TV series West Wing to have another go at it?

Asked by mazingerz88 (29220points) February 25th, 2019 from iPhone

The only time I’ve seen a few episodes was when a friend who’s a fan was watching.

Lately, I’m getting the feeling I want to see the whole first season.

In a new series I’m fantasizing seeing Paul Giamatti play the Chief of Staff and as for the President, no one in mind but quiet exciting figuring out which actor or actress to cast.

If you haven’t watched the West Wing series, you’ve missed a treat. Perhaps the series should be repeated depicting a Republican administration. But you watch a season of the West Wing, then turn around and look at Trump. It’s enough to give you the creeps.

^^My friend seems to be using it as antidote for the real life political nightmare happening right before his eyes. It’s fiction but it works I guess.

I would want it back with the same cast only except for John Spencer of course. One of my favorite shows of all time.

It’s better than just fiction. It’s a primer on the way the government is supposed to work.

The tragedy is that it is almost certainly too deep for today’s average high school student, and would be vigorously opposed as hopelessly partisan due to the unavoidable contrast of the Trump & Bartlet administrations.

@janbb No birdie, I would love to see an intelligent realistic portrayal of a principled and capable conservative Presidency done with the fantastic detail and phenomenal writing that went into that series.

These days, it would be an example of how this is supposed to be.
If they tried to make it representational of the current circus, it would come of as unrealistic, even if accurate.

It was a great show. I didn’t start watching it when it first ran, I watched it in rerun not long after, and caught up so I saw the last couple of seasons during the original air dates.

It wouldn’t have to have to have the same cast. It would be great if some of the players were the same actors and holding the same positions, but also some are promoted, or moved to other parts of government.

Madam Secretary has some of the save feel as West Wing. If you haven’t seen it I recommend you do. West Wing was better though. Slightly different focus and Madam Secretary is a little more focused on the personal lives of the characters.
