WE need more details about how old you are, what kind of place you live in (city, town, country) and what gender you are before answering. Also, how late at night and how far are you traveling.
I am in my 20s and live in the London, UK and am female. Also somewhere between 10pm – 12pm in the evening, due to my work. I have to walk home at night as the bus stops about 20–30 minutes away from where I live.
@kpetkov Thanks for answering. Is a ride share program or Uber or Lyft available or a taxi from the bus stop? Is there anyone – a friend or work colleague who can walk at least most of the way with you?
This does sounds like a difficult issue. I can understand being fearful. Is there any possibility of changing your home your job so that you don’t have this problem?
If you must walk, try to plan your route so that you walk on well lit streets where there are people around if possible. Walk quickly and hold your purse tightly or across your shoulder.
Stay in as many well lit areas as possible. As @janbb suggested, having a friend or family member walk with you is best. You might consider checking with the local police to see if they have recommendations as well.If you are looking for self defense options, you might check and see if it is legal for you to carry a can of wasp spray. Easy to use, sprays 20 feet or so and will stop someone dead in their tracks if you hit them in the face. But check with police as to the legality of this before opting for this action.
Wear shoes that are good for walking or running. High heels look great but attract attention and are useless if you need to move fast.
Call me.
And if you choose, I will follow at a discreet distance until you are home.
@josie Good to know! I may call on you sometime.
