What do you consider middle age?

I don’t think their numerical age is a good way to determine what movies people might like.

People of all ages like superhero movies, people of all ages like dramas, people of all ages like scary movies, people of all ages like love stories, people of all ages like comedies, and people of all ages don’t like superhero movies, dramas, scary movies, love stories or comedies.

“40 year old virgin”?

What? Like, all middle aged people like the same kind of movies?
I recommend Jumanji 2, Out of the Jungle to everybody.

Not sure what you’re trying to ask. Do you want movies that deal with themes of middle age, or movies that you make you forget about being middle aged?

@rockfan Yes, movies that you feel is a must watch for middle aged people who may have different feelings about being…middle-aged. Should have explained further but was on the road yesterday.

@Patty_Melt All excellent choices imo. Cocoon both and Kate and Leopold are gems.

I think middle aged people have an appreciation for older shows that the kids today don’t. Their attention span is too short. Charlie the Lonesome Cougar comes to mind. Rick and I came across it and watched, just spell bound. Of course we’d seen it before, as children, and when it comes to animals, Disney is pure magic. I don’t think today’s kids could appreciate that.

City Slickers is a good one

This could be one. Starting Over with Burt Reynolds and Jill Clayburgh.

70’s SNL skits.

I can’t find my copy of Robot and Frank right now, and it is upsetting me. I wish wish I had a robot like that.

The movie deals with aging, relationships, and how they differ with age, and how a relationship might be formed with an appliance. (not that kind of appliance, folks.)

ragingloli's avatar

It actually is about a retired professional thief, that tricks his robot into helping him commit burglaries.

Patty_Melt's avatar

That too, but if he hadn’t first formed a relationship, those activities would never have taken place.
It was his relationships with people which prompted the arrival of the robot. His failed ability to maintain bonds with his kids, his unusual relationship with his ex wife, all had a part in his receiving the robot, and his reactions to it.
