Have you ever judged a contest?

Asked by Jeruba (56032points) March 28th, 2019

Poetry contest, dog show, garden club awards, scholarship competition, costume parade—any kind. If you were called upon to evaluate entries, render judgments, and decide or participate in deciding the winner, you were judging a contest.

How did you pick the winner or winners, and what did you learn from doing it?

I judged a high school Shakespeare competition 2 years in a row and really enjoyed it. We were given scoring sheets with categories to pay attention to. I don’t remember the categories now.

Speech and debate at a local hs. It was great because I love English/ Journalism.

I picked winners based on their coherency, language usage, arguments, etc…
