What biases does Smart News provide?
I keep seeing an advert that states I should check out Smart News, yet nobody I know has ever tried it. Are you familiar with Smart News? Any idea who owns it? Any idea whether it is a left or right leaning news source? Is it really trustworthy?

If you have an advert for a news source, I’d probably not trust it. It means that they paid for you to see them and they’re looking for clicks.
@Caravanfan I agree 10 thousand percent & that’s why I’m NOT downloading their app. Yet, when I research them, everything I find indicates that they use a balanced version of CNN & Fox News. They also use Reuters frequently. This info came from reviews; but, I still don’t trust from whom the reviews were actually originated. Their parent company is SmartNews, Inc which traces back to a Japanese company that came into being in 2012 but found nothing to show who actually controls them now. Since Fluther has many jellies that are extreme right or left with many dead center, I thought I might get a better idea of Smart News agenda.
I love the idea of an unbiased news source; however, my paranoia won’t give me a reason to trust them. Still I’m in a desperate search for an honest news source!!! For this reason, I’m expanding my circle of research in hopes that this “might” be one.
Where better to learn than on Fluther???
The Apple news on your smartphone gives you articles from a variety of news sources; I see things from Fox and Huff Po on mine. I find NPR news to be fairly broadminded. You might try looking at some of the British papers online like The Guardian or The Independent.
Thanks jan. I’m an Android baby. The Play Store offers over a dozen news apps & Apple isn’t among them. I did notice that Smart News is listed as an Editor’s Choice. In my mind, that’s like the kiss of death so now I really will be leery of them!!!
I already have the BBC News app on my phone. They run hot & cold with their bias. Not sure if it’s from where they choose to pull their news that day or IF it’s that one of trump’s twitter rants pissed off the writer. Plus I have to wade through a bunch of their news that doesn’t interests me at all. Much like Diogenes, I sometimes feel my search for honesty is futile!!!
If it’s just a news aggregator you might be okay. Check it out on a laptop using Duck.com and then wipe the search history.
