Is there a line between "fear" and "hope"?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33552points) April 2nd, 2019

Someone said this to me today:

”<the situation> was better than I had feared but worse than I had hoped”.

What’s the border between fear and hope?

You mean sorta like you HOPE your president isn’t a war mongering crazy nut bar, that only cares for the wealthy.
That you fear he is?
That should get me in trouble with all the Trump lovers. LOL.

Yes. It is called indifference.

@SQUEEKY2 LOL.
Add to that and the line between, is our border.

I sometimes use that expression.
As @SQUEEKY2 points out, fear and hope are complementary. Hope and fear both refer to events that may or may not happen in the future. Hope is for things that you want to have happen and fear is for things that you don’t want to have happen. What you hope for is what you fear will not be and vice versa.
