Are those who sit all day (office workers, drivers) healthier (than those who stand all day (cashiers)?

Someone was saying that sitting is like smoking.

Notebooks who stand all day long are usually healthier than those who sit.
Sitters can get deep vein thrombosis. Edit: When I was a cashier it was exhausting to stand all day. I prefer sitting.
You’d have to define healthier. It is usually physically demanding to stand all day. People who are required to do so, like cashiers, may have knee/hip/ankle/foot pain or swelling. You’d also have to take diet and physical activity outside of work into consideration.
Like @RedDeerGuy1, I had to stand for a retail job, which I hated. I have enjoyed my primarily sitting jobs much more, although I have the freedom to walk around as I choose. But work enjoyment and quality of life are measures of health, as well.

Do people who sit all day, (most office workers) necessarily eat badly and not exercise, and those who stand (cashiers for eg) necessarily eat healthy and exercise?
@RedDeerGuy1 Don’t you think you have already have to have medical issues though in order to have Deep Vein Thrombosis? I don’t believe sitting for 40 or so hrs/week causes DPT.

@Cupcake Thanks. You’re right. “You’d also have to take diet and physical activity outside of work into consideration.” The key is in the detail part of my OP. “sitting causes health issues as severe as cancer (the word smoking is there).
My guess is the various job descriptions are represented in the groups of people who exercise enough/a lot, and/or people who eat healthy.
@flo Your blood does not circulate normally if you sit too long at a time. So if you have a sitting job you need to get up every so often to walk around. Just the same as if you are sitting at a computer or in front of a TV for long stretches.
@flo Good points. I think the physical discomfort/pain associated with fully standing working conditions gets ignored.
I just want to jump in about DVT… there are some genetic factors that may predispose people to develop DVT that are unrelated to their overall health. For instance, I had blood clots in my lungs (likely dislodged DVTs) because of hormonal fluctuations/birth control medication in my early 30s, that were entirely unrelated to my overall very healthy status. You do not need other health conditions to develop DVT (although if you have other conditions, they may contribute to your risk profile).
@anniereborn Your blood also does not circulate normally if you stand in one spot for a several-hours-long work shift (such as cashier). I think a walking/moving around job environment would be the most “healthy”, but there are issues with both only sitting or standing (still).
