I bought a miter saw at a garage sale.
I’m thinking about building shelves in my garage.

Yes, I do. But mine have metal brackets holding up the wooden shelves.
Sometimes. Right now we are in an unusual situation. It’s not always shelves on the wall. We have a shelving unit that we can break down and put together whenever we move. It’s worked well for us. I think it’s made out of a very sturdy plastic.
No garage.
Sounds like a fun project.
Yes. But mine are also brackets and planks. I advise the setup for ease of erection, cost, and simplicty of alteration or dismantling.
Yes. I have a 2 car garage and one wall is completely covered with plank shelves. I used 5/8” plywood cut into triangles and screwed to the studs to support them.
They are so handy
But, a word of warning: Over the decades the shelves get filled with stuff. Car parts, spark plugs, cans of oil, pesticides, car manuals, pump sprayers, plastic containers, grease guns, containers, flower pots, potting soil, camping tents, duct work, etc.
Make a vow to clean them out every decade or so – whether they need it or not.
I did.
I accidentally went forward instead of reverse in my garage.
Yes, but like others, they are bracketed. I don’t put heavy stuff on them.
@chyna, I love you, you know that, but you may not park in my garage.
In my defense, I had only had the car a week and wasn’t completely used to it yet.
Yes; we have ⅔ of a 20’ wall of thick, wood shelving. It was put up there when the house was built. They hold many books, many of which belonged to my father in law. If my stepsons dont take the rest of them I’m going to give the books to the library or something.
Yes. But we can’t get in the damn garage so the shelves are pretty useless.
I don’t currently live in a place with a garage, but thinking to my parents’ garage, yes, there were shelves. On one side of the garage was my dad’s workspace, which had many cabinets below it and above. There were also many things hanging on the walls, like cords and tools. But the other side, there were wood shelves fixed to the wall as well as a free-standing metal shelving unit.
Yes, lots of shelves. I have them in my workshed too
Figuratively speaking, yes. You gotta have some, even if they’re up high on the walls.
Those without shelves who are considering them, should have the Lucky Guy’s caution engraved on a plaque and affixed in a prominent location on the structure at its dedication.
