Does this car trade make sense?

Asked by skfinkel (13542points) August 25th, 2008

I am thinking of trading my 2006 Honda civic—great car but uncomfortable seats) for a 2005 Toyota Avalon (more of a luxury car. My car has 38K miles, the Toyota has 43K. So it’s older and has more miles, but nicer. I don’t know how much this trade will cost me.

“I don’t know how much this trade will cost me.”

Then we cannot ascertain if it makes sense.

I am thinking no more than 5K—hopefully less.

replace your civic seats with something different.

huh… did a little AutoTrader search.

Turns out that a 2005 Avalon can be had for about the same price as a top-of-the-line 2006 Civic EX.

That’s outstanding. I’d try to keep it well below the $5K limit. And that you do more research.

BTW, a larger, luxury car is gonna be more expensive to keep maintained. That said, I’ve got a pal with an Avalon and he enjoys it immensely.

You deserve the nicest car. You’ve done your bit for world peace already and I know
you’ll keep on.
