@KNOWITALL . My opinions on Trump are based solely on his own rhetoric, and actions. I know the right likes to think that anyone who hates Trump is clinging to a conspiracy, but that’s mostly not the case. All of my issues with Trump, are grounded in his actual words, actions, or agenda. If anyone is on the fence about Trump, then they are just as much of a lost cause as his supporters. And therefore, I will have to wait for them to die out, or be bred out, by the minorities that will soon be the majority…
There are indeed a lot of Democratic candidates. The left is not as simple as the right, who are pursuing a war on women’s rights, and anyone non-whote/non-Christian. It is that laser focus that makes the right such an easy group to pander to/manipulate, if someone is running on the right.
The left has strong issues too, but are fractured in which issues should be priorities, and how to accomplish their goals. Same with the candidates. The only thing that they all see as a priority, is getting Trump out, in time to save what is left of a once great nation.
If you are insinuating that the sheer number, and variety of dem candidates is a weakness to the Democratic hope for a candidate to beat Trump, you are correct. I firmly believe that Bernie split the left, just enough, to keep Hillary from winning in a landslide, instead of just getting more votes than Trump.
The left will have to find one or two strong issues to unite on, and run on those platforms. I’m hoping that the environment, and healthcare, will be what they settle on. It will take one candidate, who sticks to a few issues that are a main concern for ALL on the left, to be a real threat to Trump.
As far as Trump knowing how “to talk to people,” you mean manipulate the more gullible parts of the American population.
Trump.gets 100% of the white bigots, and nationalists ( probably some of his smarter supporters, sadly.) And he owns the weak minded as well.
The dems need an issue that motivates the left, like bigotry motivates the right. And then they need to convince the smarter part of the country to simply go out and vote D.
The later, is more difficult, and will be the biggest challenge for whomever ends up running against Trump in 2020.
As far as underestimation. The only thing I underestimatedlast time, was just how pathetic a third of Americans were. I’m not the only one who realized, how easily those shameful sheep can be led. What you call “pacifying the religious,” is simply the right understanding what carrot makes them move. The Republicans have long been able to manipulate the right with religion. But recently, they realized that the right is also full of bigotry, and xenophobia. Tapping into both of these stong roots of the right wingers, has combined our nation’s worst, into a concentrated blob of dependable republican voters.
Abortion, anti-homosexual, and racist rhetoric, is the carrot that moves these deplorables. There just isn’t such a uniting carrot for the left…
Liberals, and others “alienate” the religious right, because theyare the biggest hypocrites of all. Pointing out obvious contradictions with the actions/agenda of the POTUS, and the religious right’s claimed beliefs, is hoped to snap them out of their current deal with the Devil…
