Zero knowledge about wines in general and I want to surprise a friend whose Italian trip in Tuscany got waylaid by a hip replacement injury. Thank you.

I have quite enjoyed, enough to take notes:
Ca’ Gialla Nebbiolo
Vietti Barbera d’Asti
Chianti
For the fava beans:
Tomato Passata
Garlic
Salt
Sugar
Chilli
Basil
Oregano
Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Your budget should dictate the extent of your “surprise”. Personally, I would strongly suggest that you inquire of someone who knows wines as well as your friend’s preferences. Why not ask your friend for recommendations, THEN surprise him. I can recommend a great Barolo that will set you back some 55 bucks.

Part of the fun of wine is trying out different varieties.
