Replacing album name via script?

Asked by danclements (82points) August 26th, 2008

I have 500 songs that were part of a compilation so the album field is set to “Compilation Name” and I want to change it to the original album name with the original album art. Example:
I have
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snow (Hey Oh), Hits of 2006

and I want…

Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snow (Hey Oh), Stadium Arcadium

Anyone know of good mac software or AppleScripts to help me out?

Can’t you just select multiple songs and edit the album info that way changing all the songs at once? I don’t know how you do it on a Mac but on Windows through iTunes I just select all the songs I want to change a field of, right click > Get Info, then edit the fields I want and it changes the data for all of the songs that I had selected. Yes you’ll have to get the album art yourself but it works. I don’t know about any scripts that do it though sorry, maybe there are some out there, someone else may be able to provide an accurate answer.

highlight all of the songs by clicking the first one then hold shift and click the last one. then right click and hit get info (or just press apple-I) then you can edit any data in the info tab

Thanks for the answers and I know about the get info window but I have 500. I am looking for a script that will look at the artist name and song name, go on the internet and find the album name and replace it. Hell, I might be able to whip this up in apple script after all.
