It helps bring it to our attention, but you don’t need to flag every answer. We’ll check out someone’s entire posting history if they are flagged for spam.

I will mention that lurving spammers doesn’t help, but a lot of people do it anyway.

^^Thanks. I’ll stop now. Tried to run a race against this aggressive spammer. Flagged his account as well.

SavoirFaire's avatar

The spammer is gone now, and I’m cleaning up the spam itself.

^^Thank you. :)

@SavoirFaire Wow. Another spammer just started a run.

SavoirFaire's avatar

I know. The mass spam remover is broken, so I’m having to remove them individually. We may need to wait for reinforcements to arrive.

Seemed to have stopped. Would love to stay up until the morn battling spammers but must get some sleep now. Help a friend shoot his indie short tomorrow. : )

Is there an easy way to clean up the “activity” notifications when a spammer goes on a rampage like this?

jca2's avatar

@ARE_you_kidding_me : I know you can “mark all as read” and then everything in your “activity for you” will go away.

jca2's avatar

This spammer must have lots of free time.

LuckyGuy's avatar

In a way, the spammers are doing me a service. They remind me old questions and answers and jellies of the past.
That makes me smile.

canidmajor's avatar

I usually go straight to flagging the profile.

Last night must have been busy, I had 80 in my Activity for You.

ARE_you_kidding_me's avatar

@jca2 Thanks, I forgot the full site has that option. I’m usually on mobile.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

@jca2 if you mark them as read,do you still get a notice if an legit answer comes along?

MrGrimm888's avatar

Yeah. I had over 80 SPAMs in my activity lost… That’s definitely a record.

canidmajor's avatar

@SQUEEKY2, you will get notification about them as long as you don’t “stop following”.

MrGrimm888's avatar

But there in lies the problem. Many older threads are brought back to life, by a new and relevant post. If you stop following, you’re permanently out of the thread…

Tropical_Willie's avatar

My count for SPAM’s was 230 in my “Activity for You”. This morning!

MrGrimm888's avatar

Took me 15 minutes, to wade through mine. I knew, when I saw over 80, something was wrong.
Interestingly, some of the old threads brought up fond memories. The troll is helping, more than hurting…

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Hey @canidmajor thank you for that information.

SavoirFaire's avatar

Just wanted to mention that @muppetish took the overnight shift and @longgone finished the clean up this morning, so a round of applause for both of them!

canidmajor's avatar

A round of applause to all three of you!!!
