Sounds yucky to me. French toast needs to be made with a porous bread that can absorb some of the egg and banana bread is very dense. I don’t see it working well at all.

Yeah, I can see that as a problem. I wonder if I dried it out ahead of time so it actually is able to absorb the eggs and milk?

Better to put sliced bananas (and syrup) on top of standard brioche French Toast.

(I don’t know what “brioche” French toast is. I’ve only ever made it with regular kinds of white bread.)

This is for kids…don’t want to get too fancy @zenvelo. Maybe I’ll just try a couple of slices first. If they don’t like it, no problem. I’ll just make regular and they can raid my banana bread through the day. It never lasts long.
Around here, anything that isn’t regular bread is some sort of “banana bread.” Rick had a lemon loaf cake that the kids were pigging out on the other day. Zoey asked for another piece of “that banana bread that tastes like lemon.”

^^I’d flag that for being off-topic but hey, this is Social and it’s your circus and your monkeys.

I am just pointing out that the banana is not from France. That is not off topic.

Aha. Your singing must have distracted me from the message.

I made Bananas Foster Bread Pudding once, for a brunch.

It’s off topic a bit but I just wanted to throw it in there. It was very good.

Banana bread is just great the way it is. What would be the point of trying to make it into something else unless you don’t like it as it is? Just put butter and maple syrup on it. No need to dip it in egg first…

Ah, cuz the grandkids are crazy about banana bread AND about French toast. I thought combining the two could be a hit. I may try ½ a piece, but dry it out first. I’ll let you know what the verdict is….

Rick is the bread pudding expert. I’ll let him know your idea @jca2 .

It actually sounds good to me, but I really never had it. We have a local restaurant that makes banana stuffed french toast, but haven’t tried it. I think it would be good to at least try and make once though :)
