There was a time years ago that I ended up addicted in FarmVille. Even spent real money to buy stuff. Cute digital stuff.
Also, are there new fantasy entertainment platforms very similar to FarmVille today?

You should play Stardew Valley.
It is a pay-once-get-all-content game.
No microtransactions, loot-boxes, or hour long timers to pressure you into buying currency with real money.
Not sure if this means anything, but Hayday is a great farming game similar to Farmville. I have never once spent real money on the game.
Farmville was wiped out as part of the Battle of Dulles in late 1777. No longer exists.
There are still tons of those “games” being churned out. If anyone’s missing that game, or that type of game, they only need look.
Farmville wasn’t my cup of tea; so, NO I don’t miss it!!! I’m sure that there are plenty of similar games out there IF you take the time to just look!!!
I played farmville some, or some version of it. It didn’t appeal to me much.
I enjoy more an Xbox game that let’s me build my own zoos. I get to set up the size and environment of enclosures, choose my animals, set up refreshment stands, choose keepers, set admission prices. The animals age, and I can bring in a crate and chopper to take them to natural habitats. I can feed them and provide enrichment. I can even take pictures to save in an album.
It is a constant change situation, so it never has to be over.
Hand feeding the giraffes is so cool! Their pretty faces come in closer and closer, and it seems almost real.
I haven’t played it in a while. I forgot the name. I think I would like to mess around with it again. If you are interested in it, I will come back later with the name.
