Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24986points) July 8th, 2019

You use an @ and the first letter of the links name then a backspace and you get a list of avatar names from the question, and you can pick the one from the list?

Is usefull for Fluthering with a smart phone.

What are some tricks that you discovered?

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. And it definitely doesn’t work in mobile.

It’s an old trick and I thought everyone knew it already :D Maybe not newbies.

haha, I just wish some would start using the @___ in threads period.

@RedDeerGuy1 ”...of the links name? What link?

@flo When answering a question at the start. You put an @ symbol and put the first letter of the Jellies name then a backspace and you will get a list of names to choose from. Pick the one you want and click on it. Will save the trouble of typing a long complicated name.

@RedDeerGuy1 I’ve been using that feature since 2006 or so. What made me ask is the “backspace” I don’t need to backspace.
On mobile I copy and paste or I just memorize the name.

@flo Backspace also helps to enter a topic when asking a question. Just sharing what I just learned. : )

I just saw you’re referring to smartphones use. I’ll try it next time.

@RedDeerGuy1 Thanks for editing your last post, but I could have missded it, it’s just coincidence that I saw it. Thanks for the info.

@RedDeerGuy1 Backspacing erases the @

Typing @ in the mobile site does not bring up a list of users.

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

@flo You need to put a letter in first after the @.

@Hawaii_Jake I used it right now to enter your name.

I will try again! Thanks.

Wait. Are you on a mobile device on a desktop computer?

@Hawaii_Jake Both. The trick works on smartphones.

@RedDeerGuy1 I happened to have touched the Del button at the same time or right after the backspace button and it worked but not just the backspace alone. Thanks that’s a good one!

I wonder if it’s a browser thing, (i.e it wouldn’t need the Del button with other than with Firefox) or something.

Sadly, it doesn’t seem to work on my phone….
