Minitor Pager?

If i were to buy a motorola minitor on ebay, and my local F.D. uses moto minitors, would mine pickup their signals/pages out of the box?

As the Minitor does not go through a carrier (it uses open radio frequencies to recieve only), it would likely get the message out of the box assuming that you knew which channel to be on.
